Checkmate

Last night I had a strange craving for Chess Squares! I haven't had them in so long and they are so easy to make. If you haven't tried them before, you have missed out! But not for long! Run to the grocery and grab 6 simple ingredients! Your mouth will thank you.

Here are the things you will need:
1 Box Yellow Cake Mix
8 oz. Cream Cheese
3 Eggs
1 Stick Butter
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 Box Powdered Sugar

Mix cake mix and butter until crumbly.

Press in 9x13 inch pan sprayed with Pam.

Mix powdered sugar, vanilla, cream cheese and eggs; stir until smooth.
Reserve enough powdered sugar to dust the top of squares.
Pour in pan.

Bake at 325 degrees for 50 minutes.

Top will barely be brown when done. Let cool and cut into squares. Enjoy!

I wanted to blog about our pizzas we made... but it's a lot of work taking all these pictures between steps. :) I also had a very hungry husband and father-in-law waiting on them. We finally ate around 8:15 (which is late for Wiley and I), but it would have been much later if my mother-in-law weren't helping me! Thanks Ms. Patricia!

We made one pizza with pesto, chicken, red onion, fresh corn, black beans, grated parmesan, and mozzarella. The other one was equally good with tomatoe sauce, Hutchins special bbq sauce, calamata olives, chicken, parmesan, mozzarella, red onion, basil leaves.

Little Golfin' Girl

This summer Conner Beth (my 11 year old niece) has been very busy with golf. This weekend she came in 1st place at the Wolf Hollow Junior Invitational at Copiah-Lincoln Community College, in the 13-18 year old division. (She would quickly add to this post that she didn't even have time to warm up on the 1st day b/c she left her clubs at home and had to go back for them as they were only 10 miles from the course!) For those of you who are actually reading this and aren't family.... CB has been playing since she was around 3 yrs. old. She has an amazing God given talent and I am so proud of her! Currently her handicap is 9.0, but she would like to eventually tour on the LPGA so she works hard to get to at least a 2.0. Also, this summer CB was featured as a WJTV Future Star!!! She did a great job in her interview! And she did get her new cell phone! You can watch the interview below...

At this very moment she is going bananas over Craig's List! She is saving for an i-pad and just sold her 1st item for $20!!!! It didn't even stay on the site for 10 minutes! Good luck selling CB! I love you!

Little Fish Boy

Over the summer my sister's children have spent alot of time with my parents. Luckily for the kiddos, they have a pool. William is 4 and has just learned to swim. Mom actually had lessons lined up for him and about 30 minutes before the swim coach arrived, he decided he would swim. This weekend he was back in Columbus and decided it was time to start jumping into the deep end!!!! He told his momma "he's not a little boy anymore, he's a fish"! So here are some pictures of our cute little fish!

First Post

I have decided to take the leap into the blogging world.... So here it goes, my very 1st post!

Last week I sent an email to my husband (Wiley), father (Dad), mother (Mom), sister (Kameron or KK), and my friend and honorary family member (Teresa) asking their opinions on "naming the blog". Naming the blog was a very major step and such a huge commitment!

So, here are the only responses that I received:

Wiley: "Get Back To Work"

Dad: "Courtney's Back To Work"

KK: "Get Back To Work" A Blog for Addicted Web-Browsing Women

Teresa: "Prairie (since you live there), Farmhouse, Hippies, Peace. A blog..... What exactly is a blog?"

Mom: No response, she probably hasn't checked her email yet :)

The next day Teresa called me and said what about "Pure Prairie"! I loved it! So she gets all the credit for the name! Thanks Reesa!!!

The top 3 really had fun with that "Get Back to Work" response.... and as much as I loved KK's....

I don't have children (other than Banks, Bentley, and Kitty) and I'm in sales (Educational Software), so I realize that a blog dedicated to my animal children and my work would probably loose a readers attention fast!

These are some of the things I really love and would love to blog about:

Design

Cooking

Animals

Gardening

Family

Friends

Fashion

Antiques

Junk

Organizing

The Great Outdoors

Travel

Weddings

Sunsets

Movies

Photography

I'll start blogging tomorrow! So hard to decide on 1 thing..... Excited!
